So, you thought that the Met Gala was the only Fashion (because a capital "F" is totally necessary here) event this summer?! Think again. All the dresses from last month's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" gala may still be fresh in everyone's memories, but another equally stylish party took place last night in New York City—and while it might not be themed, the boundary-pushing glamour definitely didn't disappoint. We're talking about the CFDA Awards, held by The Council of Fashion Designers of America in honor of the best emerging creatives in womenswear, menswear, accessories, and more. Just like the Met Gala, many of the attendees brought celeb dates, who pulled out ALL the fashion stops. But who looked the best? See our top picks below!
HAILEE STEINFELD IN SUNO

There's absolutely no doubt that Hailee Steinfeld is one of the fashion world's newest darlings, and EVERYBODY wants a piece of the 16-year-old actress. She attended last month's Met Gala decked out in dramatic Donna Karan, but last night, she kept things fresh in a shimmery floral two-piece by Suno. The subtle crop top (you can barely see a sliver of tummy!) and the tea length skirt add a dash of formality, whereas her effortless side part and bright lip keep things young and fresh. She might barely have her drivers license, but who cares? Age ain't nothing but a number, and Hailee, we'll take style notes from you any day.

Ashley may have been MIA tonight, but Mary-Kate Olsen filled her spot with another sister—actress Elizabeth—who repped The Row in all-black. Mary-Kate and Ashley took home the coveted award for Womenswear Designer of the Year last year for The Row, but this time MK opted for a vintage Issey Miyake ruffled gown. Leave it to these two to show how black really doesn't have be boring.
KARLIE KLOSS IN CUSHNIE ET OCHS

Karlie Kloss first ruled the red carpet in New York label Cushnie et Ochs at this year's MTV Movie Awards, and now she's back for round two! The model and House of Style host kept things minimal yet again in a plunging dark blue gown with midnight accents.

Rooney Mara knows what works for her—clean lines, dramatic silhouettes, no jewelry—and she stayed true to this signature look last night. Dressed in a Calvin Klein Collection frock (she's the face of the brand's new "Downtown" fragrance), the actress was the epitome of understated glamour. But hey, we've gotta give some major credit to Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa, who had the total GENIUS idea of edging up the dress with velvet and sheer cutouts.
JOAN SMALLS IN GIVENCHY

Joan Smalls (otherwise known as the other half of our killer House of Style duo!) went Old Hollywood in white Givenchy (big ups to the night's International Award winner, Ricardo Tisci). We love how she accented her gorgeous white gown with nothing but a slicked-back 'do and a statement necklace, letting her entire look do ALL the talking.
GRETA GERWIG IN BAND OF OUTSIDERS

If you don't know Greta Gerwig QUITE yet, well, let this be your formal introduction. The actress stars in this summer's indie breakout Frances Ha and is quickly rising up the fashion ranks as well, thanks to a new Band of Outsiders campaign. Repping the label last night in an all-white pantsuit (jury's out on whether it's in affiliation with Hilary Clinton's Bravo pitch "Project Pantsuit"), let's just say this is one lady to look out for.
ASHLEY MADEKWE IN CUSHNIE ET OCHS

Ashley Madekwe might be a full-time TV star (duh, Revenge!), but she also does fashion double-time with her style blog, Ring My Bell. So it's not that surprising, then, that she worked her pretty personal steez to perfection in a mint green dress by Cushnie et Ochs, right?! Right.

Talk about some SERIOUS heavy metal! Ex-City girl, Olivia Palermo, churned out yet another red carpet win in her glimmering, fringe Dannis Basso frock. Winner.

Last but most certainly NOT least, there's our new favorite TV star (and wannabe best friend) Nicole Richie. She cranked up the shimmer in gold Marc Jacobs, complemented only with delicate jewelry, a slick bun, and vampy dark nails. The slinky, sultry, backless (!) dress is totally '90s in a Kate Moss kind of way, so OBVIOUSLY we love it.
